Indigo Dye with Lê Thúy

A private workshop with Hội An artist Lê Thúy. Learn traditional indigo dyeing techniques used for generations, in her working studio.

Lê Thúy's studio sits deliberately apart from Hội An's tourist circuit. Her work has been exhibited in Spain, France, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong — but she teaches here, in the place where it's actually made.

The process starts with cotton fabric and a vat of indigo prepared ahead of your arrival. Lê Thúy walks through the fold-and-bind technique step by step — tension, time, and the patterns that emerge once fabric meets liquid. Nothing is rushed. The work needs patience and precision, and she teaches both without turning either into a lecture.

You leave with stained hands and a piece that's entirely yours — shaped by your own choices, a pattern nobody else will have. The real value isn't the scarf. It's a few hours inside the thinking of someone who's spent decades working out what indigo can and can't do, and why the distinction matters.
