Hanoi Private Home Dinner
A home-cooked dinner in a three-generation courtyard house across the Chuong Duong Bridge — bánh cuốn, bún thang, and family stories no restaurant can fake.
Cross the Chuong Duong Bridge — built by Eiffel's firm, its iron beams framing glimpses of the Red River — and Hanoi changes register. The Old Quarter gives way to a quieter residential neighbourhood the city's pace hasn't quite reached yet.
The courtyard home belongs to a family three generations deep. The oldest remember a very different Hanoi; the youngest have only watched it change. Both versions get told across the table. By the time you arrive, the kitchen has been working since afternoon: bánh cuốn, bún thang, maybe something slow-braised that took all day.
There's no menu, no ticket, nothing staged. The family hosts because they want to, and what comes back in return is what no restaurant can fake — an actual home, actual cooking, and the kind of story that only surfaces once someone's comfortable enough to tell it.
